As in any type of project, it would be very unwise to install a live server with a Release Candidate or beta product (unless due care was taken and for good reason). I have noticed a definite anticipation in the Forums and on Smart-Thinker with regards to this release – the features in 4.3.x are much sought after.
How does this affect Smart-Thinker? Positively. We will be upgrading Smart-Thinker.com (and the DotNetNuke Directory, and a couple of other client sites) in the next 10 days or so (depending on the feedback in the Forums around this release). If a showstopper or major problem occurs then we may hold off for a little while, but I am sure the core will support upgrades to the next version as they have branded this the “Final Release”. As you may know, we are implementing Trial Downloads and module licensing in the new HomePage module (only works on 4.3.x) so this is very exciting and will be available to download a trial by the end of the weekend. We are also in the process of a site redesign to make Smart-Thinker less cluttered and more useful to you (please give us your feedback or raise a Feature Request for the website here).
I know a lot of people have been waiting for this version – let’s hope for all of our sakes it is stable and propels DotNetNuke forward to a wider audience!
