Welcome to the new Smart-Thinker DotNetNuke
Newsletter. This will be a monthly newsletter to update Smart-Thinker
users and subscribers of the latest module and development updates.
Firstly: Thanks to all new subscribers! We want you to
interactively drive the direction of our products to suit your requirements. If
you are not yet a subscriber, bear in mind that subscribers have full access to
ALL modules, source and resources on
Smart-Thinker. You can subscribe for as little as $30 - please see our Subscription
plans for more information.
Secondly, we have decided to split dumbTV and use
Smart-Thinker as our DotNetNuke subscriber portal. dumbTV is under construction
and will be used for other purposes. Please note that all dumbTV subscribers are
now Smart-Thinker subscribers with absolutely no difference in service. If you
are an original dumbTV user and have no interest in DotNetNuke the please bear
with us until the dumbTV website is back up and running. You can still create
Events on Smart-Thinker if need be.
And lastly, DotNetNuke asked me if I wanted to feature in
their Community
Profile program. This was a great honor and you can read a little more about
me here.

UserProfiles 1.0.0 released
Extend user information, view other user
profiles and see upcoming birthdays (you can even send automatic emails to users
on their birthday). Works in progress include a User Directory.

HomePage 1.0.0 released
Users create their own page and can add/edit
their own modules - think "MyYahoo". Your users can now have their own gallery,
blog and favorite links for example.

Quotes for DNN 3.x nearing completion - although we have had to put this on
hold to make way for the other modules - please let me know if you need this
module and I will up it's priority.
DNN
Controls - We are adding some custom ASP.NET controls to simplify module
development for module developers.
Custom sorting and paging datagrid
nearing completion - can be used in module grids to allow sorting and paging
using the database and Code Smith generated stored procedures.
Mandatory
Textbox - All Smart-Thinker modules use this control - it has a lot of inbuilt
validation to make the UI design a lot easier.
UserLink - This works great
with the UserProfile module - wherever you display a list of users you can link
to the UserProfile module with this control
SimpleSQL:
We
decided to make a section dedicated to some simple SQL statements to make the
day-to-day use of DotNetNuke easier. Let us know if you have a query or report
and we'll help you with the SQL!
