Details: Hi,

I just downloaded the Events module. Looks good. The Feature that I would like to see would be some sort of payment model for certain events. i.e. hosting a seminar for portal members that requires a fee to attend. Users can RSVP but would need to provide payment information to attend. Something along those line. I would be more than will to speak with you more, if need be.

Thanks Jason - this is a good idea and is on the roadmap for a future version. You will be able to hook into PayPal to pay for an event.

When I get around to this feature I'll be sure to contact you for ideas!

I have received a request for an events module where advance payment is required, but with a little twist. Your module is perfect, if only I could figure out a solution for the process I need. Though online payment is great, not everyone will pay through paypal or even pay online. Many payments are mailed in by check. Even without Paypal, it would be wonderful to allow someone to sign up for an event, where they are assigned with a status of payment pending (or approval). When payment is received, through any method, the event admin could then change the status for the attendee, as paid or approved, adding them to the official attendees listing. Ideally, when somoene signs up to an event that requires advance payment, and email invoice is sent to them with payment requirements such as method and due date.
Thank you,
Terence

Hi Terence,
So basically you want to be able to pay manually or via PP and keep track of payments with invoices. This would be a great feature but unfortunately it is a big task and would require some new tables etc.

I think you are going to have to customize the module to do this, unless a lot more people vote on this feature (basically it comes down to cost-benefit for me - if I spend 2 weeks on a single feature then the sales of the module need to increase to pay for that time spent).

It's a pity, as I do agree that this would be a great addon!

This is a MUST!!! But instead of a limited PayPal integration, I would recommend a Shopping Cart integration, like with one that could take PayPal and Credit Card.

What I envision is on the invitation (close to the Cost label) is a button (like the iCalendar one) that is "Add to Cart". You could pre-populate the amount into the cart, but you should also let the user enter in their own defined monetary value as well. This way a group of people can contribute an amount of money that might be undefined (like give whatever you feel obliged to give).

This might even be easier than integrating a pay method directly into your Events module as all you would be doing is passing the variable of the Event and the suggested amount into the shopping cart (as long as the amount could be changed). Furthermore, you should not have to develop a shopping cart - just use one of the popular ones that does both PayPal and Credit Card. I see you have a Shopping Cart on your DIY site, so maybe use it? I can envision allot of usage from this for money collection specific to an event.

I hope that this is a good enough explanation and suggestion to bump it up on the list as I have a project that needs this kind of integration. If there is a custom way of doing this, then I would be open to any suggestions. Thanks!

I also agree that intergration with paypal would be great.
