Details: I also could use this module if it accepted payments through a gateway such as authorize.net

Rather than develop a method for processing a payment through a payment gateway why not use the pre-existing facilities of DNN. Link the creation of the event to the creation of a product in the shopping cart. Sale of a "ticket" would also trigger an RSVP event. That way the events can be completely managed through a web interface - not email.

Also the ability to charge different amounts based on the role of the user
