User Groups tied to forum

Details: I'm very much interested in the notion of attaching a single forum to a single user group. I'm using Active Forums, so it would be fairly easy to put a Forum Viewer module on a user group page, but the trick is in telling the Forum Viewer which forum to display.

I'm also interested in possible doing this as a sponsored enhancement. We are currently working with Engage Software to connect their Publish product with ActiveForums.

I would also like to be able to tie articles from a Publish database to a User Group page. I would like to be able to specify article categories to a user group and have appropriate article summaries displayed.

I agree this would be an excellent addition, and coupled with my suggestion to be able to designate more than one moderator for the User Groups module would make it even more flexible. With that combination your forums would not rely on only one user for growth and admin.

I agree with this as well. A connection between ST and AF at the group level would be terrific. The more self service the better. I also agree that the moderation role needs to be the group creator. Ideally, creating a group within ST also creates a forum instance (or group), assigned the group creator as moderator and displays that forum on the group page.

I know there are some discussion about this going on over at AF and Rodney has joined in them. I would be very interested in helping to make this happen.
