I just added the MySPace MP3 player to my profile  (United States)

I just added the MySPace MP3 player to my profile onthis site.  And it worked!  Excuse me for a DNN Nube but that strikes me as somewhat astonishing. It would seem that between your UserProfile module and HomePage module you can pretty much duplicate anything being done on MySpace and probably more.

Question: #1 - Where are the individual the home pages stored?  In a field somewhere or as an actual saved page?  I nosed around my site last night but could not figure it out.

Question: #2 - What is the storage hit from this?  If I'm just saving html and links to various pictures and objects without actually copying them to my site then it should be pretty minimal.

Question: #3 - I would be inclined to skip the default Text / HTML module on the page and put a user editable page in it's place.  Would it be reasoably easy to accomplish this?  I would stick the edit Profile button on top of it.

Great stuff.

Re: I just added the MySPace MP3 player to my profile  (United Kingdom)

Hello Andy,

Glad you like it! Would you mind if I added your top comment as a comment (like the one on the Smart-Thinker HomePage?) It’s quite a glowing reference (can link back to your site if you want).

1) The HomePage module is one of my favourites – it does not “store” anything tho – it uses the core architecture and creates a page just as if you were using it manually. The magic comes in with the dynamic assignment of the User to the admin role so that they can edit their page. Hence if you want to find your data it is in the normal Tabs, Module format.

2) Again – it’s essentially a page per user. The Smart-Thinker demo had about 400 (I cleaned them out to showcase the new functionality recently). Bear in mind the demo here is the old 3.x  (we still on 3.2.0 for another few weeks) – the 4.x version is a lot smoother.

3) I’m sorry – I am not quite sure what you mean by this? The HomePage “Module” is the button, which then doubles as a control, but its creating the new page – hence it can’t be used “on” another page I that makes sense?

4) You should see the new UserProfile demo shortly – not much has changed on the front end (huge backend stabilization changes) but I’ve got big plans for it!

Thanks
Rodney
