Steps for complete 100% uninstall?  (United States)
Modified By Dave Ingraham on 10/19/2006 10:00:20 AM)
Hi,
I'm having some weird issues with the UserProfile module, so I thought I'd un-install it, reinstall and try again. I un-installed the module definitions and made sure that my recycling bin was empty. I also looked at my databases (using MS SQL Server Mgt Studio Express) and didn't see any Smart-Thinker tables. After re-installing, I'm still having the same problems. Are there any other steps I need to take to completely, totally, absolutely 100% un-install the UserProfile module?

BTW - the issues I'm having are weird. First, the link to Core User Info disappeared off the User Profile page. Then, inexplicably, the links from the Directory stopped going to the User Profile page and simply redirected back to my home page. After doing my first un-install/re-install, I never could get the links from the Directory to do anything other than redirect to the home page.

Re: Steps for complete 100% uninstall?  (United States)
After another uninstall/reinstall, the module is working again. I figured out that the link to Core User Info only shows up for administrators. As far as why the Directory wasn't linking to the User Profile page...I have no idea. Its seems to be working now, which is the most important thing.

I'm still interested in knowing how to completely uninstall everything.

Hi There,

I like your site btw - very different!

Right, WRT uninstall - I actually was under the impression that everything DOES uninstall - is there anything in particular that doesn't on your system?

Thanks
Rodney

Re: Steps for complete 100% uninstall?  (United States)
Hi Rod,
After another uninstall/reinstall, everything seems to be working ok.

If I remember correctly, when I uninstalled the module and then reinstalled, the user profile info that I'd entered during the first install showed up after I did my second install.

Like I wrote, everything seems to be working fine now, so I'm not worrying about it. I'm just looking forward to the next version of this module!

Oh I see - the data remained... hmmm- that would imply that the table was not removed? Odd... I'll bear it in mind when if I do some testing on the UP module or for the next version but will let sleeping dogs lie ;)

Thanks
Rodney
