Membership Directory  (United States)

I'm looking for a module that will let me publish a member directory.  In a grid view I want to see a list of all the registered members and display selected profile data items such as first and last name, email, address and telephone number.  For each displayed member, the email address should be linkable to send email and there should be some other click action (an icon or on the name), to open up a details page with all of the selected user's profile info.  If the detailed profile info belongs to the logged in user, then that user should be able to update their profile information.  Can your UserProfile module handle the above tasks?

Thanks,

Gary Christenot

Re: Membership Directory  (United Kingdom)
Hi Gary

Hmm - the UserProfile can do most of the things you need, and is heading in that direction. All the links on this site link to a user profile (for example on the Home Page you can click on a logged-on members name and see their profile (which will contain their email link or the ability to send them a Private Message).

One of the items pencilled in for a later version is a UserDirectory - ie. a list of users with the ability to do full sorting and searching on all key attributes.

Thanks
Rodney

Re: Membership Directory  (N/A)

Aloha,

I got 3 quick questions for integration.

1. Can I make the username/link that appears in the view template per post in ActiveModules link to the User Profile module page instead?

2. The modified Users Online module, do I have to recompile the module or could I just copy the two files over to implement it?

3. I've been using [DISPLAYNAME] but is there a token for just the Username [USERNAME]?

I've about got things the way I'd like an hopefully wont bother you much for awhile lol, Cheers!

Re: Membership Directory  (Australia)

Hi CW,

1) Yes, I believe you can. I have not used that module but if it uses templating, and exposes the UserID, you can use it to construct the ST UP URL required. View a profile, then grab the URL and replace the UserID param with the token from ActiveModules and change the template.

2) You don't have to recompile, but those files have not been touched in about 1.5 years - please test on a Test server first to make sure they still work with the latest version of that module.

3) What module are you referring to here? The UserProfile detail/directory?

Thanks
Rodney

Re: Membership Directory  (N/A)

Howdy,

Sorry to bug you again, but what's the proper syntax for the ST UP URL to display a users username in the ActiveForums template? I can't seem to get it to work but it does allow for a userid token.

The other stuff I got figured out, except now my users are bothering me for the ability to arrange their friends listed in their LoggedIn-User Friends list? Is there any talk of giving this ability in the future? Maybe break it out into a view order data list (I think thats the proper term) with maybe the up/down arrow arranging type layout seen in other controls?

Thought I might ask. Thanks again for your work!

Re: Membership Directory  (Australia)

Hi,

Do you mean the token inside the Active Forum module itself? In that case I'm afraid I don't know - I've never user AF.

With regards to the friend list - this will be harder than it should be due to the fact that it is using a generic control. Please raise a feature request so I can see if there is demand for it, but I'm afraid I don't think it's going to be high on my list versus some of the other enhanments (it's not a quick job) - you may want to consider a customisation.

Thanks
Rodney
