StoryFeed Set-up  (Japan)

I like how things look on Poker DIY and I realize the module was just added today, but I have no idea how you set it up to do that. The AJAX text box for updating status etc...

Also you make mention to UMG and possibly having updates for when users add new content. Is this existing functionallity or an add-on?

Thanks Rod, Im looking forward to getting the module working

Mark

Hi Mark,

Yes, I am playing catchup with documentation! I added some info to the Module Config guide in the Documents folder but I'll add some more info to the forums.

Profile Status

I've updated the Twitter and Profile Status thread with some more instructions.

Thanks
Rodney

I have started a thread here with more info on how to set up the StoryFeed module like on PokerDIY.

This would be up to the 3rd party module - I provide the means to publish the events but it is up to them if they want to update their modules to take advantage of this.

I have contacted BizModules and Pengtsen has said he will wait and see if there is demand for it - please start a thread on their forum if you would like his modules to publish updates to the feed (I think it will be very cool to see when a user uploads new videos or adds new photos but I need some support here ;). Just mention that you have seen the new StoryFeed view and it would be great if his modules supported it.

I am working with Scott (Ventrian) now to get the News Article module working with my modules (I rely on the Ventrian Suite heavily!) and have been contacted by some other developers. I think this will be a very useful feature.

Thanks
Rodney

Re: StoryFeed Set-up  (Denmark)

Hi Rod, I'm a upgrade guy meaning I'm not installing from scratch but updating the modules to your newest versions.

I've added the StoryFeed module if the groups and users-profile pages and nothing happens. So I went to look at your forum posts.
In this post (http://www.smart-thinker.com/Support/Forums/tabid/111/forumid/-1/postid/5639/scope/posts/Default.aspx), in the first line you mention upgraders needs to add the new tokens manually. But where to add them?

My group page: http://www.mad4fun.dk/Groups/GroupDetails/tabid/159/ID/18/language/en-US/Default.aspx
My user page: http://www.mad4fun.dk/Members/UserProfile/tabid/150/ID/5/language/en-US/Default.aspx

Oh and where did that: NICKNAME come from? :)

I seem to share that same problem.

Also still looking forward to the Ajax text box tutorial :)

Hi Jesper,

NickName: This is interesting - I removed this from the default template in this version - ah, I think that's what might have happened - it was in there in an old version but was showing up as blank so some people might have just left it in (the ST UP module has not used the NickName property for about a year now - if you want to use it you can add it to the core properties like normal). Now that I have removed it the template engine shows the missing token if it was in your template. You will need to edit your template and remove the [NICKNAME] token.

With regards to the new tokens, you can add these where ever you like - if you want to see how it look on a new install add a new Profile module to a test page or Load Default to see them. If you log in to PokerDIY you'll see I added them to the home page as well.  I updated this forum post on how PokerDIY is set up.

Thanks
Rodney

Hi Mark, have you read this thread again (been added to) and checked the link I posted now for the PokerDIY profile set up.

Re: StoryFeed Set-up  (Denmark)

Hi Rod. Creating a new user turns up on the users activity board (story feed) but wall post's doesn't.

Here (http://www.smart-thinker.com/Resources/Articles/tabid/113/ctl/ArticleView/mid/780/articleId/87/Default.aspx) you suggest Wall 4.3.3 but I only see 4.3.2 in the download section, is this the root of my problem?

Thx,
/Jesper

Re: StoryFeed Set-up  (Japan)

Hey Rod,

The last of my issues (I hope)
I have looked and looked until my eyes hurt but I can not find the string the following text
"updated their profile pic"
could you point me in the right direction

And one last concern.
The Feed is a growing list....but I do not see a way to limit how long the list grows....

Mark

Re: StoryFeed Set-up  (Denmark)

Mark, is it this you are looking for? http://www.smart-thinker.com/Support/Forums/tabid/111/forumid/-1/threadid/5693/scope/posts/Default.aspx

I agree with Mark on a limit for the story feed list (maybe with a "show all" function). I should be able to increment by 1 so I can set it to 9 or 43 or whatever suits my design/layout.

Yes, I like to KISS for the first version - UserPrefs will come out in a later version (ie. filter on StoryType, how many to show etc.) but I am not sure when that will be out - I need to work on some other things. It is limted to 20 items though (you can change the stored proc if you really need to).

Thanks
Rodney
