Re: Sponsored Enhancement Proposal Estimate - StoryFeed Commenting  (Australia)

Please note I have completed and am dogfooding Paging on the Storyfeed - you can see it on any profile. For the record this is a good example of how a single small feature can take considerable time to implement - I have spent well over 8 hours working on the Paging solution alone.

I am now starting on the actual commenting.

Thanks
Rodney

Re: Sponsored Enhancement Proposal Estimate - StoryFeed Commenting  (Australia)

Hi Jesper,

I would estimate 70% complete - I have basic commenting working - unfrotunately I have hit a problem with using AJAX inside the Aggregator module so it only works when logged in as Admin or when I take it out of the Aggreator mod. You can see some comments on this profile (made by admin) but filtering and commenting is not working until this DNNStuff issue is fixed (hopefully it can be). It does not work in IE at the moment, only FF.

I still have to do comment notifications/emailing, as well as settings for what type of stories can be posted on, and then a bit more tidying up and testing... Hopefully a release before the weekend!

Thanks
Rodney

Re: Sponsored Enhancement Proposal Estimate - StoryFeed Commenting  (N/A)

Hey Rod,

I found an issue when you want to comment on the friend adds - there are actually two different entries, so the comments can be spread over two different threads.  Can you think of a way to fix that with the comments?  I understand why there are two, but is there any way to consolodate that with the entry being : userid1,userid2 so it would be one entry?

Thanks,
Steve

Re: Sponsored Enhancement Proposal Estimate - StoryFeed Commenting  (Australia)

Hmmm - let me have a play around with it - I am not sure it will be possible to do anything as it treats all records the same, but I will have a look.

Thanks

Re: Sponsored Enhancement Proposal Estimate - StoryFeed Commenting  (Australia)

No, unfortuately there is no way around this - there are 2 distinct records for each add (this is the way it was designed) so any comments are tied to a particular person. You could put in code that checks if it is a certain scenario (ie. a friend add) and duplicates the record to both users but I do not want to include this in the core codeline as it seems a bit hacky.

Thanks

Re: Sponsored Enhancement Proposal Estimate - StoryFeed Commenting  (Japan)

I just have one question, is there any way to assign friendly names to the feed items? I have not found anything in the RESX files....

Thank you

Mark

Problem found. They were in Shared Resources...not Story Feeds where I expected.
