I could not fine the answer to this by searching so I am sorry if it has been covered.
I am using DNN 3.1.1 I have installed the correct Home Page module.
The problem I am having is when the My Home Page button is clicked It does create a home page but the is no button to edit the home page (I log on as a normal registered user), If I go back to the main home page and click the My Home Page again it creates a ne whome page and will keep doing so. I did it and had 10 home pages and could not edit one of them.
Please, someone tell me what stupid mistake I made.

Hello
Hmm - this sounds very odd - I don't think it has been covered! Can you
please check your Log Viewer and see if an error is logged when you do
this and paste it here if it is? Also - what was the last Smart-Thinker
module that you installed? Try installing the latest Events module
(1.0.5) to ensure you have the latest shared code libraries.

This is most odd Phil (I logged in and see what you mean).
It looked like DNN 3 - is that correct? Have you tried installing the module on a local portal and seen if that works? Also - can you log in as Host and tell me the name of the Control Panel the site is using?
Have you done anything different? Ie . did it used to work and stopped - or has it never worked? Have you tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it (sorry - but this does sometimes fix it!)

Good to see you back. Hope you had a good vacation. Now back to the daily grind.
It is DNN 3.1
The control Panel is: Smartthinkerhpbar
If I use the Icon bar then I have the left side page functions. ie. create new pages.
But switch back and now toggle bar.
Unistall, delete from host mod. def. / re-install
Install Log: (Odd errors on this install, I have 4 sites being hosted on 1 account, a resellers account, could this have anything to do with it? I did verify that I do have separate database for each web site, could it be because this is reinstall, I do believw that I have uninstalled and reinstalled prior to this, I was hesitant to do so do to the warning of uninstalling the module, it says that I need a scrpit to run that you have to uninstall the home page)

Now I try yo use again and this is the result:
Very interesting, I have a toggle switch.
I added to modules, announcements and calendar
Go to home page (main site home page)
Click on the ST My Homepage and modules are no longer there, I have 3 home pages for myself. I did create a parent page called My Homepage, I changed it and still creates a new home page everytime, GOOD NEWS, I have the Toggle control panel switch now!!! But I now have 7 homes pages.
Please help.
Login is still the same with admin access.

Does anything that my post above help you out? The home page module seems like it is nice.I just would lik eto have it work correctly. I am sure it is a simple fix, I just can't fix it, Thus, I buy the modules I need and not create them. |

I assume that you are not doing an upgrade, you are installing 1.0.1 first?
From your install error, this looks
like it could be the problem:
“Invalid object name 'dnusr_35813f5e67.aspnet_UsersInRoles'.
Invalid object name 'dnusr_35813f5e67.aspnet_Roles'.”
What is “dnusr_35813f5e67” – is that
the Database Owner?
It seems that you have found a bug
in the upgrade DB scripts (01.00.01.SqlDataProvider) where the old roles from
version 1.0.0 are erased as they are no longer used. This failed on yours
because the script specifies a DBOwner before the core Microsoft tables (UsersInRoles).
To
fix this (it may be related to the problem) – can you change the lines:

SELECT RoleID
FROM

WHERE RoleName like 'STH-%'

You will need to unzip the
PA, edit it, and then zip it up again – let me know if you are not familiar with
this procedure and I can help.
Then uninstall and reinstall the
module and let me know the result. I will fix this in the next version.
Hopefully this is related to your problem, but let me know. When you uninstall
the module, it will leave the user homepages that have been created – if you
can, can you delete all of these manually. (to restore the system to how it was
before reinstalling it).

One more thing - can you run the following stored proc on your database and return the results to me please:
SmartThinker_HomePageModulesGetTabsForUser_C <portalID> <UserID> (use 73 - not sure what portalID that is)
This is the sp that determines if it should add or edit a page...

And lastly:
Let me explain how the control panel
and the toggle fit into it:
Basically the only way I could
achieve the desired functionality without modifying the core was to use a
custom control panel (the one you saw in your Host settings). When a page is
loaded, a check is done to see if you are the page’s owner. This is done by
querying the Keywords and Description of the page (hardcoded with the UserID).
If you are the page owner, you will get the toggle button (which shows and
hides the Smart-Thinker Control Panel), unless you are logged in as admin, in
which case you will be shown the normal control panel.
What is strange is that in your
error log you have STH-73 for the Description and
Keywords (if you view the Log Viewer now)
But if you view the page settings
you will see it is “STH-101-73” (for my user – which is STH-101 for
Smart-Thinker HomePage version 1.0.1, and then –UserID (73 must be for the “maint”
user).
This is the correct value, but I am
not sure why the log viewer thinks it is the old version 1.0.0 value of “STH-73”.

Ok - did that help at all? (don't worry too much about the install errors - should be ok)
If you log in as Host you can go to the SQL tab and run the following (replace the first paramater (0 below) with your PortalID, and replaced the second one with my user's UserID:
SmartThinker_HomePageModulesGetTabsForUser_C 0, 1
Do not click "Run as script"

Phil, in case you are not aware, the new HomePage version is out with a lot of new features and fixes (including your DBOwner problem).
I know yours is fixed, but if you are running 4.3.3 then I recommend upgrading to this one.
