Simple SQL Usage  (United Kingdom)
The aim of Simple SQL is to increase productivity and make the day-today use of DotNetNuke more effective by using Simple SQL.

A lot of people don't realise the power of SQL, and lot of people are not programmers or DBAs, which is why it is Simple SQL.

Please share the knowledge and copy and use the SQL freely - if you have any to share then please post it here for everyone's benefit.

Likewise, if you need a report on something and are battling with the SQL, let us know - we'll be glad to help!

Thanks
Rodney

Re: Simple SQL Usage  (Uruguay)

Good... Rodney .... look this sentence :

SELECT '<a HREF=/default.aspx?tabid=' + CAST(TP.TabID AS VARCHAR) + '>' + TP.TabName + '</a>' as Menu
FROM Tabs T inner join
Tabs TP on T.TabId = TP.ParentId inner Join
Portals P on T.PortalID = P.PortalID
where T.TabName = 'SQLDashboard' and T.PortalID = 0

a question : Don't work with friendly URL?

Thank Rolando

Hi Rolando

I'm not an expert on friendlyURLs, but I was under the impression that it would (so that old links would be compatible).
Anyone else know more about FriendlyURL interpretation?

Thanks
Rodney

Anyone have a script for re-indexing the DNN database from the host SQL box? Or is that not do-able / recommended? How do you folks re-index the database?

Re: Simple SQL Usage  (N/A)
Hmmm - not sure to be honest, I've never tried it. Do you mean reindexing the physical files with the DNN Files table?

Thanks

Re: Simple SQL Usage  (United States)
any indexes on tables - which enable them to be accessed quickly but over time need to be re-calibrated so to speak as records are added and deleted - so the index is no longer compact, and performance suffers -

Oh I see, I thought you meant reindexing files and DB - no, I haven't had the need to do this yet - anyone else?

Thanks

Re: Simple SQL Usage  (N/A)

To be honest, I'm a bit new with DNN, but what module are we talking about here that allows you to enter SQL statements to hit the DB?  And I assume it can only hit the dnn database and it will probably use the aspnet user right?

Thanks

-Steve

Re: Simple SQL Usage  (N/A)

Hello Steve,

This is up to you - there are a couple of SQL modules out there to chose from - I personally use SQL View from DNNStuff (it's free and good). There is also a core one I think (Reporting module) but I have not used it.

Thanks
Rodney
