Hope to see the Referral Module developed further  (Poland)

I am new to DNN and testing this module as I do require this, but with some sort of tracking too.  I am not sure how email tracking works (with cookies I understand) or if it is possible to create & add these in the current system somehow but I do hope the system is developed further to enable tracking as I know there are a few it would be of use to.

Must say I am quite surprised it's not a more popular module, even looking at the forum it seems users must be quiet... on something that can help bring users to a site the existing module works extremely well from what I have seen in the short time I have used it. I hope to see more using this module soon and give the guys a reason to develop it further for all of us.

Re: Hope to see the Referral Module developed further  (N/A)

Hi David,

I would really love to develop this side of the module further (I want to be able to track referrals on PokerDIY.com) but due to time constraints I can't see this getting done to be honest - I don't think it would be a massive seller and hence I would not be able to justify the time it would take (a week or 2).

I do want to make an AJAX module that can be placed on any page and used as a Tell a Friend - more on this later...

Thanks
Rodney

Re: Hope to see the Referral Module developed further  (Poland)

Hi Rod

I can appreciate the situation, guess with any luck it might be something you would look at for your own interests... a break from the others etc but I just know that those of us that would like it need to let you know.

It is actually the reason I first found Smart-Thinker and in turn, subscribed. I did think it was the only module I was actually interested in for my needs, but have found severl of the others very useful when I thought how I could apply them.

Just wondering on this module though... even without the tracking... would it be easy to enable it to record people that send out the referrals, and who they are sent to?  At least then I could get an idea of who is making referrals, and possibly manually make the link to anyone that registers. For a non-programmer like myself, that does sound like an easy thing to add to it (I hope)?

Thanks

David

Re: Hope to see the Referral Module developed further  (N/A)

Hi David,

Yes, I cater for this for that exact reason - you can configure it to CC admin - this way whenever someone sends a message on PokerDIY I can see who they are sending it to (ie. capture their email address for potential marketing) and what message they are writing (you get some really interesting insights in to how it is being used and what they think of the site ;)

I don't store this in the database - this is the only downside - it is just an email record (I store them all in a big folder). This module is very simple and does not require a DAL/DB which makes it a lot simple project-wise. This would be a natural enhancement if it ever were developed (and then when a new user account is created you could compare email addresses and credit that users account with a referral etc.)

Thanks
Rodney
