Forum Guidelines

Please ensure you follow the bug-raising guidelines (e.g. post the full error from your Event Viewer) if you are raising a support call. To request a feature in a module, please use Feature Requests (unless you want to discuss it here in more detail first). If you have an urgent feature that you would like to see in the product then you should consider a Sponsored Enhancement.

First Time User? Make sure you have read the Module Config Guide in the documents folder of each module. Also check out this handy Module Deployment Guide (written by a Smart-Thinker customer!)

Configuration issues and no time to read the Forums/Documentation? See our DotNetNuke Premium Support Service.

We need your opinion! Please read our proposed new CrowdSourcing development method and let us know if you would be interested and if it might work.

Group Enhancements

Rodney, we are ready to start tackling the Groups functionality required for our site. We were tinkering with the idea to implement groups as subportals (as youthroots.com did) but then decided that it creates too much unwanted overhead and will cause upgrade issues down the road.

Since you have pretty much the only usable DNN Groups module lets try to see if we can collaborate a bit. Now, your groups are a good start but need some additional  functionality
 - administration layers (who can do what) - I see you are already implementing something here
 - forums - your "wall" idea
 - events - is this well integrated on the group level? can you create group specific events that only group members can see?
 - blogs, wikies - maybe down the road

I guess the big question is whether we can use the source of other modules and create groupid aware functionality. For example one forum instance can power all the groups forums by allowing visibility and edit permissions based on groupid. Same thing with the blog - one instance of Scott's NA can power all blogs and manage the visibility based on groupid.

Obviously the other option, as you mentioned in another forum post, will be to create everything from scratch. That could be quite a task though.

We have a small budget for developing this so let me know if we should discuss this further.

Thanks.

Ivan
