Invite function invites random user - Need support  (N/A)
Hi. After some start up issues driving me mad, I finally got it all to work on the test system. By all i mean profiles, group and wall. Once all the pages were in place, with the right controls, everything runned fine.

Then, installed the modules on the live server. It all worked out fine for the first group it seemeed, admin (host account) created a group. It messed something up. Here's my problem:

When in a group of my own (any user), clicking on the " Invite New Member" link, I'm taken to the Invite screen. Here I see a list of users and I can tick to invite them. Doing so (tick one, multiple users and clicking "Invite") sends invitations out to what seems to be a random user/multiple users (maybe it's latest user online or something) but ultimatly, not the user it was intented for. This includes the actual invitation to the group. Some random now has a group invitation...

This happens in events, friends and groups invitations, making all of them pretty much useless to us. Invite do work if you go directly to a users profile and hit Add to Groups/Add to Friends button.

No need to say this is a major problem going live. Please give some feedback, I was recommended you and your products, based on you level of support, now I hope this is true, cos now I really need it :)
Thx
/jesper

Re: Invite function invites random user - Need support  (Japan)

Does this happen on the first page of users, or only after you have paged?

Thanks

It happens on every (pager) page (Images or List mode)
Seems like some index or something is messed up.
I can give you access to the portal if you would like to see the problem.

Thx for looking into this,

Re: Invite function invites random user - Need support  (Japan)

Yes, please email login details to rod . smart-thinker.com and I will look. I was not aware that this was happening on the first page too (there is a bug that I have spent a lot of time trying to track with dynamic controls, event lifecylce and viewstate) after the first page, but this could be something different.

Thanks

Done, thx. I've noticed on MyUserGroups any pager page has this problem but in Events it only on the subsequent pager pages it accours, the first pager page is fine.

Re: Invite function invites random user - Need support  (Japan)

Hi Jesper,

I am trying to replicate this on your test site - from what I can see the problem only occurs on the 2nd page of the results (like Events) for the group module? I made a group called Smart-Thinker Private Test Group and the users from the fitst page were invited correctly (if you go back to the group detail and click on "Invite Users" again then the ones from the first page are no longer there (which means they were added correctly). Are you sure it's happening on the first page of the groups module too?

Thanks
Rodney

Re: Invite function invites random user - Need support  (Japan)

Update: I am working on this locally (I have reproduced it on my local site) - and am trying to find a fix for it - I will keep you updated. It is quite a tricky issue...

Thanks

I concur. The first pager page work by design (in Groups) now. Strange... I'm very sure it didn't 10 days ago. I have tested it again and again. With old groups, new groups, old and new members, differntly host and admin site settings, all in vain. I was looking for a pattern, didn't find one (except maybe invite seems to like userID 2, as this id get a lots of those random invite-mail - but not all of them and not always)

I started a re-index'ing (search admin) one night not long a long. Could that have fixed pager page 1?

Re: Invite function invites random user - Need support  (Japan)

No, I don't think that would have anything to do with it - it seems to be the generic user control and indexing. I'm going to continue looking at this tomorrow (sorry for the delay, but it's now top of my list...)

Thanks

Re: Invite function invites random user - Need support  (Japan)

This has now been fixed and will be released in the next version of each module. Thank you for your patience, it was not an easy bug to track down!

Thanks
