Group Category not displaying  (New Zealand)

Hi, I'm using the latest    SmartThinker.DNN.Modules.UserGroup.dll   file, and the GroupCategory is not displaying. If I swich back to a previous verison of the dll file, my group category is showing fine. Any idea abou how I can fix this?

Thanks very much

Ray

Re: Group Category not displaying  (Australia)

Hello Ray,

What are the 2 versions of the .dlls you are referring to? Do you change the .ascx files too?

Are there any errors in your EventLog when this happens?

Thanks
Rodney

The working version is 4.3.6.40678

I'm using the latest version that come with my purchase 4.3.12.42723, which is not displaying category on groupdetails page.

Re: Group Category not displaying  (Australia)

Sorry Ray, I am a little confused - what is version 4.3.12? That sounds like the UserProfile module? Can you give me a log in to the site (or at least a logged out URL so I can have a look)

Thanks
Rodney

Re: Group Category not displaying  (New Zealand)

Oh... my fault, it was 4.3.7.37649 not working for me, and 4.3.6.40678 works (but it's displaying the trial message because it's not the version I purchased)

I'm sorry, the website is currently in company's intranet. It can't be accessed from outside.

Thanks for your very kind replies, as always

Ok, can you please check your Event Viewer when this happens and make sure nothing is being logged.

Thanks

Re: Group Category not displaying  (New Zealand)

Sorry, I don't know what the event viewer is.

Is there an easy way to diagnose this?

By the way, I noticed that in GroupEdit.ascx file, we have some more fields for the "address"; like telephone number, cell number and Region dropdownlist etc. How do I enable or disable them? Thanks Rodney.

Re: Group Category not displaying  (Australia)

The Event Viewer shows all the recent errors in the system. Often an error will be hidden from the user and a nicer message displayed so you should always check the Event Viewer (under Admin menu).

You can use properties on the Address control (like ShowRegion="false") to hide ones you do not want.

Thanks

Re: Group Category not displaying  (Australia)

Good news Ray, I found and fixed this issue while looking at something else! I do not want to release such a small patch, so please email me at rod . smart-thinker.com if you want the new version and I'll send it to you (this goes to anyone who has this problem and cannot wait for the release (not sure when this will be - probably a month).

Thanks
