Uses for User Groups  (United States)

Greetings

I am working on a site where musicians can sign up and create a profile for their band or musical act, upload images, concert times, music, videos, etc.  Fans will also come to the site and create a profile, where they can become 'fans' and listen to music and interact with the artists.  I'm trying to figure out if band profiles should be groups classified by genre.  Basically we'll have two types of users, one that would upload original content and the other who will consume the content.  Could someone with some experience with this application please help me understand my options?

Re: Uses for User Groups  (Denmark)

Hi. Before I start I must ask you if you're talking about the standard modules or the source version?

Re: Uses for User Groups  (Denmark)

Ok, then you're in my boat.

I too need a "my namespace-group module" that will share tokens with all of Smart-thinker modules. In my case it's for gamers. I need MyGames and MyClans working pretty much the same way the groups module works, all integrating.

I have some options:
1) Develop it myself in Visual Studio as a module - its free
2) Develop it myself using a module builder module like xmod or indoogrid - module cost money
3) Have Rod or another coder build it for me using the Smart thinker source - will cost money.
4) Convince Rod to release a generic league module
5) well out of ideas really...

At the moment I'm at the second option using indoogrid - first I want to build a Dashboard for requests, mails etc. Then after it's time to do MyGames.
I wil share my (indoogrid) Dashboard template once I'm done building it.
