Comments Control in Group Details  (United States)

Rod,
How can I add a comments control or blog control in the group details like you have in pokerdiy? Can you share your trick?

Thanks,

Re: Comments Control in Group Details  (N/A)

Hi,

Sure - the Blog uses the built-in comments, but for the UserProfiles, Games and Groups on PokerDIY I use a little bit of Jscript (until I write a module to do this - this is a halfway house) - have a look at this (JS-Kit).

Thanks
Rodney

Rod,

If I use this JS-KIT how can I add it to the group detail so that each groups has it own comments.  Please advice

Re: Comments Control in Group Details  (N/A)

It's stupidly simple and quite clever (at the same time) - it works on the unique URL, so add it to the Group Detail page in a HTML module. Because it passes in the GroupID each URL is different and therefore a unique discussion.

There are a few limitations - I want to show it to all users but only let registered users post, which is impossible, but it's a decent halfway house. (ps, I am not endorsing it, just telling you how I use it ;)

Thanks
Rodney

Re: Comments Control in Group Details  (Australia)

Just a quick update on this subject - the new Smart-Thinker Wall module is about to be released. You can see it in action on the Groups module on PokerDIY - for example, here is a poker group (with comments at the bottom). You are welcome to add your comments, but please remember that this is a live site.

The Wall module will integrate with the Smart-Thinker UserProfile module, Events and Groups module, as well as any custom module that users an ID in the querystring.

Thanks
Rodney
