PokerDIY / DotNetNuke Questions  (N/A)
This Forum is for discussing the PokerDIY project that we use to Dogfood our modules and identify requirements.

PokerDIY is a social networking site for Poker players. It is a free service to find poker games and players, with league and event management.

Thanks
Rodney

Re: PokerDIY / DotNetNuke Questions  (N/A)

The PokerDIY site is very cool.  Do you have any kind of diagram or documentation describing how you built it using your Smart-Thinker components?  I'm working on a social networking site and am having trouble getting the robust functinality that you've got in your site.

Re: PokerDIY / DotNetNuke Questions  (N/A)

Thanks - it's a full time job to be honest.

I don't have any documentation or diagrams at all (no time) - but I am happy to help you configure your Smart-Thinker modules in the same manner - the easiest way to do this is to start with something small and do it in steps - the key module is the UserProfile module - all other modules point to this really (the latest version of the ST UP module has "Add to Groups" and "Invite to Events" functionality which makes it even more useful).

Can you raise a specific query on the relevant module forum (ie. the UserProfile Forum) with what you are battling with, what you have so far, and what you are trying to achieve and we can dicuss it.

Thanks
Rodney

Re: PokerDIY / DotNetNuke Questions  (Canada)

Hi Rodney

I understand you are discontinuing the home page module, my question is, if we want to make public home pages with the User Profile module, do you have to modify the source?

The reason I ask is because on your pokerdiy site, you have ID in the query string.

Please advise, thanks!

Harry

Re: PokerDIY / DotNetNuke Questions  (N/A)

How did you build the "My Profile" section on the right-hand side of the user's profile page?  I'm particularly curious about the "Last 5 Poker Games" and the "YouTube" video, which I can't seem to get working on the PokerDIY site.  Every time I past the "Embed HTML" code into the "Profile Video" field it doesn't seem to get saved to the database ... no error message, it's just not saved.

Re: PokerDIY / DotNetNuke Questions  (Australia)

Hi,

The "Last 5 Poker Games" is a custom module thats part of the League software on PokerDIY.

The YouTube video - this is not ideal, but what I did was set up a field in the profile (Text field, not RichText ) and then the users can paste the embed code into it. Unfortunately it is not very intuitive and no one really does this (but it looks good on my profile).

Are you saying that it's not working on PokerDIY? If you do a View Source on your profile page, is there anything there at all?

Thanks
Rodney
