Some DIY questions  (N/A)
Modified By Dennis Ross on 5/17/2008 9:47:40 AM)

Hello Rodney -

I took a look at the Poker DIY site and it's a perfect model for what I would like to try.  In essence I would like to copy the same style since I have no website design skills but do have ideas that I would like to try.

With that being said I have a few questions;

  1. At the very top / center page, you have 4 graphics with 4 links (Games, Leagues, Groups, Forums) i like that idea, how can I emulate the same thing?
  2. (I suppose what would be the content pane) you have 3 sections (Poker Games, Poker Leagues, Poker Groups), again how can I emlate that?  Were those list - with the red hash marks ">"  - created with a module?
  3. How can personalize my list of online users?  For example to the right you have Poker Players; Poker Leagues; Event/Games; Poker Groups; Freeroll Prizes.

I have a ton more questions but that will be a good starting point for me i guess.

Excellent work on both your mods and Poker DIY!

-Dennis

Re: Some DIY questions  (Japan)

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for your comments.

  1. This is straight HTML inserted directly in to the skin. I have started an interesting discussion on this here (it used to be an HTML module).
  2. This is standard HTML in a HTML container. You can copy it directly (with your own changes of course ;) by viewing the source, modifying it and putting it into an HTML container. The red arrows are just a CSS list style.
  3. I use a module called ActiveHTML for that (thinks it from Brillnat on Snow). You define HTML templates and DB datasources - very useful!

Thanks
Rodney
