Is the wall module compatible with DNN 4.8?  (United States)

Is your user profile and the wall module compatible with DNN 4.8? Can the wall be used without your user profile and be used with the built in user profile of DNN 4.8? Please let me know the pros and cons. I have an alumni site,

www.elcapalumni.com, and I think the wall will be great for myself and the members.

Thanks,

Fred

Re: Is the wall module compatible with DNN 4.8?  (Australia)

Hi Fred,

Yes, all Smart-Thinker modules are forward compatible (I also like to run the latest DNN versions). The Wall module can be used without the Smart-Thinker UserProfile module, but it is not as effective. For example, when you use it with the ST UP module you can set it to allow only your Friends to see or post on it. When you use it with any other Profile module then it doesn't know anything about the other module and therefore has no fancy security (the core doesn't even have Friends). You can use it on any module that passes in an ID to a receiving page -  I think the core profiling system does this.

Nice site - I think the Wall module would fit into it well (bear in mind that PokerDIY drives my requirements and I am trying to make that into a MySpace/Facebook-type social network for poker players.

Thanks
Rodney

Is the wall module already available for purchase or download?  I'm developing a site and I want my users to have the ability leave comments on certain pages, Eg. I'll have articles for them to read and leave feedback as well as photos and videos. Do you think the Wall module would be ideal?

Yes, it is part of the Product Suite (all existing customers get it free). The wall module can be used in Custom mode on any module that uses the item ID in the URL - it depends on the modules you want to use. Also bear in mind that most Photo/Video modules (like UMG) already have comments and ratings...

Thanks
