Source code installation  (Denmark)

We have bought Gold developer product suite because we will be able to make corrections to the module source, (primaryly the Events module).

But during installation all code the behind files are compiled to a dll file and therefore we can not make the desired corrections.

Can we istall with out compiling dll files, or do we have to make corrections before we install the module?

Re: Source code installation  (Australia)

Hi,

I am not 100% sure what you mean - basically we use the WAP project type (ASP.NET 2.0) which mimics the ASP.NET 1.0 model, where all the code behind is compiled into .dlls. All you have to do is load the source up with the project files and make the changes you require, and then package it all in to the install .zip (or if you want to work on the live site just copy the .dll to the bin directory.

Thanks
Rodney

Re: Source code installation  (Denmark)

Hi,

Thanks i think you got it, so we have two ways to make changes:

  1. we load load the source up with the projectfiles, make the changes, package it to a the install .zip to reinstall it all. (reinstal the module when changes are made)
  2. We load up the source..., make the changes, copy the changes (.dll to bin and and other changed files to replace the existing files) (live site - only copy changed files)

Re: Source code installation  (Australia)

Hi,

Yes, that is correct - this is pretty much the same for the core-style (WSP) development projects is it not? The only difference is that instead of copying source files to the App_Code folder you copy a .dll file to the bin folder?

Thanks
Rodney
