Curious about writing modules..  (N/A)

First, I do not have any any programming knowledge. So, if I decide to learn the programming language or related(from scratch), which one should I learn so I would be able to tweak the smart-thinker modules (after buying the source) and create small modules that would integrate with the Smart-thinker modules?

I think smart-thinker modules are written in C language, correct? So I have to learn C, and what else?

Thanks for humoring me.

Re: Curious about writing modules..  (N/A)

Hmm - I think you should ask this question on the DNN forums - there are probably a lot of other users in the same boat as you who could reply better (I learnt programming many years ago so I am not sure what the learning curve is like these days). The languages are more complex but the tools are designed to be more user-friendly.

The ST modules are writting in C# (different to C++). You'd also need to learn MS SQL Server and a couple of other dev tools (like CodeSmith).

I havr to be honest - it wont be easier for a new starter. You also have to weigh up how much time it would take (you are talking months) and then decide if it is cheaper (based on your cirumstances) to pay an expert to do it for you. Hope that helps...

Thanks
Rodney
