| COnfiguration Issue - access invite and edit (N/A) |
|
|
Aloha,
I know this is most likely a configuration issue, but I jsut started to setup the event module and when a registered user adds an event the Edit link and Invite icon does not show up. What is the reason for this? I looked / tried this on pokerdiy and it works fine, what am I doing wrong? SImilar issues for Grous as well...I might just making simple DNN errors here...thoughts anyone?
Also, on pokerdiy you have the following sort: Event status and When, but default is Event status, when and "My Events or All" - how/where do I configure that? Any user guide that covers all this?
Thanks

Are you sure you are looking at the My Events module and not the Upcoming Events module? The My Events module shows all events that a user has created (make sure you are not using the Host account either). You should be able to edit the events once you have created them. Did you set them to approved or active (this should not make a difference).
Thanks

This will appear on the My Groups page when you are logged in as admin (non admins can only see their own events so do not get this ddl)
Have you read the Module Configuration guide in the Documents folder? Thanks

Aloha Rod,
actually this is what you see as a nono-admin, this is an issue because 1) the user owns this event and cannot edit, 2) there are 4 drop down boxes wiht selections...why???

as you can see, no way to edit or to get into the invites, and there are Events Statys, Approval status, when . and e.g. My events...how come?
This user is not an admin user so not sure what is up?
Thanks

Aloha Rod,
so still need help ASAP with this issue.
Get the same for your group module.
As you can see in Figure 1, the non-admin person cannot delete their created group, but they do have access to edit the details which is good (why not allow delete?). As you can see in Figure 2 and 3,m the non-admin person does not have the ability to manage invites for the group they created, no access to the invite links that you see in figure 3 (that is when logged in as admin). I assume this is permission related, but I did make sure that the group detailed module/section allowed edit for the non-admin user (the page does not). What's the deal??
Picture 1. Non-admin user access to edit, but cannot delete.

Picture 2. Non-Admin user no access to the invitiation links on the group detail page

Picture 3. Administrator looks at group they created, do have access to the invite section...

Can you check your Role rights on the My Events module - do Registered Users have Edit permission?
Thanks

It sounds like Registered Users don't have the Edit Right permission on the Group Detail and My Groups page. Also, there is no Delete button in the column on My Groups - this is by design (deleting a group is a rare activity and it's a complex entity so it seemed a little casual to put the button at list level. You have Edit the group to delete it. Thanks

ALoha Rod,
yes as I stated they do not have page edit rights, but they do have module edit rights - shouldn't that be enough? Giving the user page edit rights creates several other issues.
Thoughts?

Yes, you definitely do not want to give them page edit rights. There is one issue that I can think of that caused this a while ago with Page View and Page Edit - it's in an old thread somewhere - basically there was a version of DNN (4.6?) where you could make a cookie for Page Edit and Page View for a user that had edit rights on a module, then you would set the Site Setting to only show the switch option toolbar if they were page editors, but the cookie would remain, so no module with the Edit Right architecture would show the edit links. I wrote a script and published it on the core forums - will try to find it.
In the meantime, can you try clearing out your browser cache and cookies for a normal user and see if that works, and also create a new user (they wont have the cookie) and see if that works too. Thanks

Aloha Rodney,
thank you thank you thank you - that took care of it, so ti was a cache/cookie issue...I just created a new "basic" user and that worked. Puh, finally :) Thank you so much - your support is (as always) excellent!
