Module Load Exception  (Belgium)

I have installed and removed the Event module several times and still get the same error. I can create an event but when I click on the event it directs to the home page instead of displaying an Event Detail page.

Re: Module Load Exception  (United Kingdom)
Hello Gordon

Are you sure this is the Smart-Thinker Events module?

The namespace looks wrong:
LM.DNN.Modules.EnterpriseEvents.Events

Thanks

Re: Module Load Exception  (Belgium)

Sorry for sending the wrong info. I had the Enterprise module installed but removed it several days ago. It left garbage in the DB. I went through the tables and deleted whatever I could find. Hopefully thats the end of that.

However, I still can't get the Smart-Thinker module to work correctly. I've gone through the admin guide several times and created the pages as described. I can add events as a registered user. I can approve them as an admin. Events show-up under the "My Events" & "Upcoming Events". I have un-hidden the "Event" page to watch the action but it always has the "Event Detail currently unavailable" displayed. When I click on an event I am re-directed to the Home page of the portal. When I click the rsvp on the Event page I get the following error.

ModuleId: 429
ModuleDefId: 127

Re: Module Load Exception  (United Kingdom)
Ok - I realise the instructions are not as clear as they could be and I am going to update them for the next release. The error you getting is related to the setup, so it will be easy to fix.

Basically the Event Detail view (on the Event page) will always show "Event Detail currently unavailable" if you view it manually (ie. not through an event). This is because it does not work without the correct parameters passed in. (I will make the error message more clear to avoid confusion). This page would never be seen normally unless it came from the UpcomingEvents view (which would pass the correct params in). If you clicked on the RSVP link when it was showing the error message above (ie. no params) then the RSVP page would also fall over with the message you gave because it also needs the EventID and other info.

So - the problem lies in the fact that you UpcomingEvents page does not know where the EventDetail page is (and hence goes to the Home page in disgust).

Check that the page is called "Event".
Check that there are no other "Event" pages in the Recycle Bin. If there is then it tries to use the first one it finds, and of course it is deleted so it goes to the home page. Delete the deleted page completely if there is.

Thanks
Rodney

Re: Module Load Exception  (Belgium)

Instead of trying to fix the error I went ahead and deleted the entire web & database since it was a test environment. Because of all the modules and such that I had installed / uninstalled , the db had become laced with trash. And with the Enterprise module I had created Event modules that had existed at some point so the original error made sense.

I got the Events working on the fresh portal . However, in calendar view, when I switch between months as clicking the arrow to go from Aug to Sept, the data that populates any given date in the new view disappears. I have to go to another page and then return to the event page. But then I am presented with the current date since the page is reloaded.

As an example I created an event for Sept 7, 05. When I go to the Events page, the August calendar is displayed with all events created for that month. When I click to go to Sept, the events for Sept do not show up. All that's displayed is the empty calendar. When I click to go back to Aug, I then get the empty Aug calendar.

Thanks

Hi Gordon

Thanks for raising that - it is a known bug and is being fixed in the next version (which I am starting to work on next)

You can see it on the Roadmap here:
http://www.smart-thinker.com/ProductsandModules/Events/tabid/135/Default.aspx

Is everything else working as expected?

Thanks
Rodney
